The stock corporation Chemopetrol is the largest petrochemical firm in the CR and rangs among the most significant production companies in the country. Chemical production started in Litvinov as early as 1939. Chemopetrol is the largest supplier of semi-finished products for chemical, plastic and pharmaceutical industry in the CR and key supplier of semi-finished products destined for further processing in leading domestic chemical firms - such as other producers of plastics Kaucuk Kralupy, Spolana Neratovice, Chemicke zavody Sokolov or Slovnaft Bratislava.
